Fragrance Mists and Body Mists Review

I tend to acquire decants and samples when I'm in a midst of a crash out (I'd buy actual perfumes whenever I'm in dire mental straits if my funds allow me but it does not!), so might as well put my quick thoughts about them. I'll try to update this list as I try new ones. Bath & Body Works ☆ ☆ ☆ ☆ ☆ (I have repurchased these) Wild Honeysuckle - FANTASTIC! One of their more complex fragrances that I've tried. Honey right out of the gate. Smells briefly of kisses (type of aroma beads that was popular in the 90s). Then you get a burst of overwhelming jasmine flowers before settling in to subtle medley of florals. Disappointing longevity however, even for a fragrance mist. Wish I could find something that smells the same but would stay much longer. Moonlight Path  - Smells like powdery, musky flowers. Some people would say old lady perfume but this is actually one of my favorites. THE PERFECT BEDTIME SCENT! One thing I've learned is scents either get reformulat...

Althea Korea Philippines Review

Image
Althea Korea has been available to other Asian countries like Singapore and Malaysia but they have officially launched here in the Philippines last February 15. I'm sure you've seen them around as there were a slew of advertisements on Facebook (as well as write ups from bloggers). Upon looking at their website, the pricing is indeed cheaper than what I would usually find locally. They always have promos going on, and there was a brief time I considered buying from them because they were selling Nature Republic Aloe Vera 92% Soothing Gel for 0 bucks (free!). I actually still have an almost full tub of it, but it's a great product for unexpected use (mosquito bite relief and quick skin cooling effect among others) so it's great to have an extra tub lying around. Maybe I should review it sometime.  Anyway, after adding the items on the cart I forgot about it and the free Nature Republic Aloe Vera Gel promo ended but they had a promo on Easter. You just need to fi...

Tony Moly Delight Petite Cotton BB Cream Honey Beige Review

Image
I honestly forgot about this product. I remember buying this last January but I discovered cushion bb creams (only tried one out for the first time this year) and I forgot that I had this.  I actually like this more than the bb creams that I was using prior to this (the pink Skin79 and Canmake). Canmake was working for me well before my face got tanned due to prolonged sun exposure because it has more yellow tint than usual bb creams from Korean brands. Korean bb creams tend to give me a white cast (on indoors lighting but not visible outdoors) I specifically chose a darker shade than what I would normally get. It turned out to be a great foresight as I'm tanned right now and the Honey Beige shade is perfect.  At first I really wasn't expecting much as it was cheap. I bought it online on sale for less than 300php ($6.5) but on the online store I bought it from sells it at 395php regular price (around $8.6). I don't know if it's cheaper on the actual Tony ...

Lioele Secret Pore Rich Balm Review

Image
I've had this for almost 3 months now and I'm really happy with it. It's one of my HGs. Yes, I like this primer that much  Lioele Secret Pore Rich Balm I don't have perfect skin but it really doesn't bother me that much so I don't wear make up on a daily basis. I know other people use primers (mainly to help make glide more smoothly but some primers also 'blur' the pores), but after buying one and it doing absolutely nothing for my face (Canmake, because my ass is cheap) I never really tried out other primers. For years I just figured I have to live with my skin until it clears up someday so all this time whenever I go out with make up on I just walk around with my face looking like rice krispies  Lioele Secret Pore Rich Balm Box I don't really know what possessed me to buy this, as I have said previously I gave up on primers. It might be because it was on sale at the time but I can't really remember. Anyway, it's one of...

A'Pieu Honey & Milk Lip Balm

Image
I admit I'm a lip balm whore  hoarder. Even at groceries or drugstores, if I see one that I haven't tried before I'm just itching to buy it! I think it's because lip balms are usually cheap that's why I always end up buying one even if I still have several other lip balms lying around the house. Enter A'Pieu Honey & Milk Lip Balm. The packaging is bright and cute so it was hard to pass it up. Main active ingredients are: Honey - makes lip skin healthy Milk Protein Extracts - makes lips firm and moisturized Vitamin E acetate - skin protectant I have chappy lips days prior to using it, and it has calmed the chapping down after around 1-2 days of mild use. I do not lick my lips so I don't really reapply lip balm that much. I don't know if I'm just crazy but the smell reminds me also of sponge cakes that are baked with lemon rind. I do not think there is any lemon or citrus ingredients list, but the perfume may be citrus based....

Cosrx Blackhead and Pore Zero Patch Review

Image
I ran out of Biore pore strips and I've been wanting to use a pore strip for a few days now and suddenly remembered I have a Cosrx Blackhead and Pore Zero Patch sample lying around. I was disappointed upon opening it, as it wasn't a pore strip - it's a cotton like patch/mask soaked in liquid. It also has two strips inside and I wasn't sure what to do with the second one so I just sealed the package again for later use (the packaging doesn't reseal but I have my ways). Instructions for the Step 1 Patch I applied it on my nose and waited for around 15 minutes. It was the longest 15 minutes of my life since I'm anxious to find out if it will really remove blackheads, because it wasn't exactly a pore strip, it's literally just like other Korean face mask sheets except it is specifically shaped for the nose area. After removing it, I inspected my face under a flashlight (lol). The instruction was to use a q-tip/cotton swab to remove rai...

Three Meals A Day - Gate To The Night Tea

Image
Three Meals a Day - Gate to the Night Tea I remember googling Gate to the Night Tea when they first had it at 'Three Meals a Day' but I guess since the English Sub from Channel M is a loose translation of the tea I couldn't find any info. Or maybe my Google Search skills that day was weak. I really liked 3 Meals a Day so I was really bummed out that it ended last year. I suddenly remembered the tea that they always drink; I don't really like tea that much (I drink it when it's there but it's not a staple item for me except the sugar loaded flavored instant tea drinks) but I'm just really curious since they seem to like drinking that tea especially Kim Kwang Kyu. Apparently, the tea they are drinking is Yagwanmun (야관문 - Chinese name 夜关门 - scientific name Lespedeza Cuneata). The Korean and Chinese pronunciation are similar. If I try translating it using Google Translate (by separating each character because if you translate it as one wor...

A'Pieu x Crayon Shin Chan Deep Clean Clear Water Review

Image
A’PIEU Deep Clean Clear Water is a water based cleansing water ideal for cleansing make up residue. The key ingredients are Baking Soda (helps in purifying pores) and Heroget Carbonated water (containing enriched minerals for clarifying skin).  To be honest I only got this because of Crayon Shin Chan. Most toners/cleansing waters from Korean brands that I've tried are either too mild or just leaves a 'moist' feeling after use. It's not necessarily bad, in fact I think gentle/moist cleansers are preferred by most nowadays but it's just much more satisfying for me whenever I get that squeaky clean feeling after using a toner so I'm really happy that this one does just that. I'm not sure if Deep Clean Clear Water is part of their regular line and I really hope it does so I can still purchase it when this one runs out (in case they retire the design soon, it's still on the website but I also saw a Doraemon face contour set on their website recently a...

Skinfood Aloe Mask Sheet Review

Image
Another mask sheet that I've tried recently is Skinfood's Aloe Mask Sheet. After reading on the benefits of Aloe on the skin, the most notable that I've read were its moisturizing properties (suitable for dry and oily skin) and its healing properties (ushering the skin to heal from acne, blistering and what not with minimal scarring).  There's no English instruction/description on the back but because I have too much time on my hands, I typed it below (apart from the precautions for use part). I can only hope that I didn't misspelled anything. 220mg Here is the rough English translation.  Disclaimer: Most likely no...

Etude House Pearl Extract Mask Sheet Review

Image
I have a few samples of Etude House Pearl Extract Mask Sheet lying around, so I decided to give it a try. Description: Essence mask contains pearl extract that promotes natural skin glow. Tension fit design for improved facial adhesion and comfort. The main active ingredient of the mask is hydrolyzed pearl. Pearl powder has been used for beauty treatments for so long now for their benefits they are believed to give. However, the absorption rate for pearl powder is low whether it is taken internally or applied topically. Hydrolyzed pearl has a higher absorption rate, so you the skin can absorb more protein, calcium and what not from the pearl.  Anyway, after cleansing my face I proceeded on putting on the mask sheet. I couldn't exactly describe the scent but it vaguely reminds me of the sea. I'm not sure if it was because I'm using a pearl product so I was associating the smell to the sea. Anyway, the mask fits well on my face and I left it on for 30 minutes...

Banana girl - ung dung ee lyrics (eong deong i)

Image
I've been re-watching some Japanese and Korean dramas lately. Currently, I'm re-watching Stand Up and Sweet 18 . There is this scene from Sweet 18 where Hyuk-joon ( Lee Dong Gun ) saw his wife, Jung-sook ( Han Ji Hye ) dancing wildly in a club. The song from that scene is pretty catchy and eerily familiar so I decided to download it. The song is Ung Dung Ee by Banana Girl (I read the Hangul as 'Eong Deong I', but more promising search results come up if you google 'Ung Dung Ee by Banana Girl). I now know where I first heard of that song. After watching Jumong around 2007-2008, I was looking for random videos of the cast members when I came across this youtube clip of Song Il Gook dancing while Han Hye Jin sings. The song that Han Hye Jin sang was 'Ung Dung Ee'. I searched for the song in Melon and I was glad that I found the lyrics. I could read hangul but not at a normal reading pace so to save time I used this tool to romanize the hangul lyric...

Japanese and Korean Grocery Stores in Cartimar

Image
Classes were dismissed early yesterday and I don't want to go home yet. I've been searching for a particular Korean frozen treat '뽕따 (Bbong Ddah)' and since I heard that there are a few Japanese and Korean grocery stores inside Cartimar, I decided to go there. I don't know how to go to Cartimar. The only time I went there was to buy a puppy when I was a kid and I was with my dad and we had a car. I texted my sister for help and thanks to Google, she was able to give me directions. From school (in Sta. Mesa Manila), I rode a jeep en route to 'Divisoria'. Instead of going inside the LRT line 2 Recto station (the line 2 Recto station and line 1 Doroteo Jose station are connected), I got off at Avenida and decided to walk until I reach Carriedo station. I wanted to go first to a shop in Avenida wherein they're selling various odds and ends from Japan, but I decided against it since I don't want to come up short during grocery shopping (food is more ...
