Cyanide Studio secured the license to HBO's Game of Thrones

Earlier this year, Cyanide Studio revealed their plans on releasing a role playing game and a real time strategy game for PC adaptation of George R. R. Martin's successful 'A Song of Ice and Fire' series. The real time strategy game entitled 'A Game of Thrones - Genesis' is a single player campaign written under the supervision of George R. R. Martin himself. The release date would be on the third quarter of 2011.

Just recently in an interview, Cyanide Studio stated that they had secured the license to HBO's Game of Thrones for their RPG, making it an official GoT video game. Cyanide's RPG is still untitled and is set to release in 2012.

When I first looked at the screenshots for 'A Game of Thrones - Genesis', I was a bit disappointed with it graphics wise. Despite what I've just said, graphics aren't really a big of an issue for me (I still enjoy playing the Aveyond series because of the storyline, proving I can look past graphics on gaming). It's the actual gameplay that I'm really looking forward to, even though I'm not a fan of RTS games. Since Cyanide Studio's RPG is an official GoT game, I presume the expectations on it would be higher. 'A Song of Ice and Fire' is great, but a lot of book/movie/TV video game tie-ins doesn't turn out good (The only exception from what I've tried is Lord of the Rings Online. Turbine has cleverly made their MMORPG faithful to Tolkien's lore despite not actually playing as one of the main characters.). I really do hope both games would turn out well.

In the meantime, just check out Cyanide Studio's official website for updates on both games here. (The official website for the RTS 'A Game of Thrones - Genesis' is up, so be sure to visit it as well here.)
